Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 - Overview Quality of Service (QoS) Isolate hot workload, set workload IOPs limits Enable multi-tenant/multi-workload consolidation Enhanced Virtualization Support for Hyper-V over SMB 3.0 with continuously available shares Expanded VMware VAAI support Controller upgrade w/o volume move maintaining access to data CIFS NDO for Microsoft Hyper-V with SMB 3.0 Better NDO Next Generation SnapVault Volume based SnapVault enables fast, efficient backups Compression and dedup preserved over the network saving bandwidth Notes: Triple DES is a security setting, unclear on why in NDO VMware VM Volumes is unreleased and will not release during 2013 49,152 LUNs in a 8-node SAN cluster 12,000 volumes in 24-node cluster Infinite Volumes support for NFS v4, pNFS, SMB 1.0 400 TB aggregates 100K NFS clients Support for BranchCache v2 Higher Scaling Single node cluster, 2 node switchless cluster configuration 7-Mode to Clustered ONTAP migration services Improved OnCommand support Ease of Deployment NetApp Confidential – Limited Use

Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 - Highlights Enhancement Description/Benefit Storage-efficient volume SnapVault® Volume-level logical replication for online backup and recovery preserving compression and dedupe savings SnapMirror® and SnapVault transfers with vol move Flexibility to move SnapMirror and SnapVault source and destination volumes during data transfer Quality of service workload management Throughput limits by workload to assure no workload consumes more resource than expected More FlexVol® volumes Up to 1,000 volumes/controller enables greater scalability and more flexible management Larger aggregates 2X+ larger aggregates (up to 400TB) support more high-capacity HDDs and enable more vols/aggregate 8-node SAN clusters and 8,192 LUNs per node Increased cluster scalability when using LUNs Switchless 2-node cluster A single HA pair cluster configured without switches streamlines deployment and management Single-node cluster Enables data transfer between remote single-node clusters and larger data center clusters Controller upgrade without volume move In-place controller upgrade within a HA pair without moving volumes and while maintaining data access Volume SnapVault Volume-level disk-to-disk backup using logical replication, with compression and deduplication space savings preserved over the network and when written on the destination system SnapMirror and SnapVault Transfers with Vol Move 8.1 allows a SnapMirror transfer to continue while a SOURCE volume is moved within the same Vserver 8.2 adds the ability to move as SnapMirror DESTINATION volume while transfer occurs, and the ability to move SnapVault source and destination volumes during transfer Other new data protection capabilities are covered in IDP Roadmap presentation, including: SnapMirror relationships will be convertible to SnapVault without a rebaseline SnapMirror to SnapVault, SnapVault to SnapMirror, and SnapMirror to SnapMirror cascades Vserver-aware NDMP backup SnapMirror and SnapVault destination volume seeding using SMtape Quality of Service (QoS) Workload Management Hard limits for max throughput by workload prevent any workload from consuming more resource than desired Workload limits can be defined at the Vserver, volume, or LUN level QoS works with clusters up to 8 nodes; NOT supported with larger clusters (>8 nodes) with 8.2 initial release More FlexVol Volumes 1000 volumes is supported ONLY in clustered Data ONTAP (the 7-Mode limit remains 500 vols/controller) An HA pair should not contain more than 1000 flexible volumes to account for takeover events. Larger Aggregates Aggregate size increases supported with both clustered Data ONTAP and 7-Mode Aggregate sizes increase for all supported controller models; max sizes vary by controller and are at least 2x bigger than with 8.1.x Max volume limits DO NOT INCREASE; however, with 8.2 volumes can be created as large as the max vol size (i.e. the 90% cap has been removed) 8-node SAN Clusters and 8192 LUNs/node Greater scalability and flexibility when provisioning LUNs on clusters Switchless 2-Node and Single-Node Clusters Targeted at minimum-sized cluster deployments, typically standalone or at small locations in a distributed enterprise A single HA pair cluster can be deployed with direct cluster interconnections, i.e. no interconnect switches required; expansion beyond 2 nodes requires adding 2 switches for interconnect redundancy Single-node (non-HA pair) cluster is intended for distributed enterprise deployment when a single HA pair is not justified or available (e.g. Data ONTAP Edge may not support HA when clustered Data ONTAP support is enabled Controller Upgrade without Volume Move Prior to 8.2, upgrading controller models requires migrating data off the HA pair before taking the HA pair offline With Data ONTAP 8.2, both controllers in a HA pair can be upgraded with new models while keeping volumes in place. This is done by assigning ownership of all aggregates in the HA pair to one controller while its partner is replaced. The benefit is faster controller upgrades without the need for extra storage and no additional load on controllers and drives.   NetApp Confidential – Limited Use NetApp Confidential – Internal Use Only

Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 - Highlights Enhancement Description/Benefit SMB 3.0 Latest protocol with Windows® 8 and Windows Server® 2012 Provisioning and copy offloaded (ODX) from clients Hyper-V™ over SMB 3.0 Nondisruptive storage node failover and takeover Faster recovery access after node failure (Witness) Optimized remote VSS backup with SMHV BranchCache v2 Faster remote user and application access to data stored in data centers for manageability reasons Fpolicy Enables quota mgmt and file auditing with third-party SW File access audit Enables audit logs that help customers meet compliance requirements and data security needs CIFS features that enable better administration, diagnostics, end-user support, and security Key feature support being added includes: Local users and groups Previous versions/VSS Offline caching Roaming profiles SMB server signing Access-based enumeration (ABE) SMB 3.0 Support for Windows 8 client and Windows Server 2012 file access using SMB 3.0 is supported, including copy offload Offloaded Data Transfer (ODX) enables the server (in this case a Data ONTAP cluster) to perform client-initiated copy operations (similar to VMware VAAI copy offload); Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 automatically attempt to use this by default and Hyper-V uses it for VM storage motion Hyper-V over SMB 3.0 Hyper-V data access over SMB 3.0 enables customers to deploy simpler and more scalable IT architectures compared to using FC or iSCSI Unplanned failover and planned takeover (as well as giveback) between partner nodes of a HA pair are nondisruptive for Hyper-V clients that are accessing shares over SMB 3.0. SMB 3.0 persistent handles and Clustered Client Failover are utilized to accomplish this. Note: Access over SMB 3.0 for non Hyper-V clients (e.g. home directories) is NOT resilient through storage node takeover or failover. Witness, a new Windows protocol with SMB 3.0, allows client access to move more quickly from a failed cluster node to its HA partner than can be done via LIF failover; it requires an available LIF on the partner Remote VSS extends VSS to shares which then allows virtual machine ‘snapshot’ backups; integration with SnapManager for Hyper-V simplifies the backup workflow BranchCache v2 Clustered Data ONTAP support with improved WAN performance compared to the 8.1.1 7-Mode version (v1) Fpolicy New architecture for clustered Data ONTAP provides better resiliency, flexibility and scalability compared to 7-Mode. The key existing Fpolicy partners of Quota and Audit have signed up to adopt the new architecture. File Access Audit File access audit enables customers to track which file have been modified, when they were modified and which users modified the files. The Microsoft methodology is used to log file access events. Additional CIFS Features The addition of 6 key features (and more) which have been available in 7-Mode, will enable more customers to adopt clustered Data ONTAP (the 6 key features are in bold font): Better administration: local users and groups; CIFS terminate Better diagnostics: sectrace; list current CIFS sessions Better end-user support: previous versions ; roaming profiles, offline caching Better security: SMB server-side signing; Access Based Enumeration; fsecurity set/get NetApp Confidential – Limited Use NetApp Confidential – Internal Use Only

Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 - Highlights Enhancement Description/Benefit Mixed RAID Flash Pool™ SSD RAID 4 groups with HDD RAID-DP® groups NetApp Storage Encryption Supported by PVR: 1 or more HA pair within a cluster can be configured with encrypting disks for data-at-rest security IPv6 Support for CIFS, NFS, and iSCSI access and SNMP queries and traps On-cluster FlexCache® for NFS and CIFS Scale-out caching of NFS (v3, 4, 4.1) and CIFS (SMB 1, 2.x) files for increased read bandwidth NetApp® Infinite Volume enhancements Fixed content and enterprise content repositories Infinite Volume Vservers on a shared cluster with standard FlexVol® Vservers NFSv3 and 4.1/pNFS and SMB 1.0 file support Flash Pool integration Unified ACLs NetApp Storage Encryption (NSE) Requires an entire HA pair to be configured for NSE within the cluster; more than one HA pair can be NSE configured Encryption management, including key management, is done at the node (controller) level not at the cluster level Supported by PVR in 8.2 Mixed RAID Flash Pool Support for RAID 4 group of SSDs with RAID-DP groups of HDDs to reduce cost of using SSDs Supported with clustered Data ONTAP and 7-Mode IPv6 CIFS: SMB 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, and 3.0 NFS: v3; v4 and v4.1 with AD authentication only (no Kerberos) On-cluster FlexCache CIFS: SMB 1.0, 2.x, and 3.0 NFS: v3, v4, v4.1 Additional slides in the Appendix NetApp Infinite Volume blue font indicates functionality introduced with 8.2 Items in blue font are new with 8.2 Infinite Volume Vservers and FlexVol Vservers can be provisioned on the same cluster providing configuration flexibility Support for NFS v4.1 and pNFS, and SMB 1.0 added (support for SMB 2.x and 3.0 is targeted for future releases) Support for Flash Pool aggregates with Infinite Volume Vservers Unified ACLS: Unified security style for UNIX and Windows users and groups A single, common ACL form for securable file system objects that may be viewed, modified and managed by CDMI, SMB/CIFS and NFSv4.1. This differs from the existing 7-Mode and clustered Data ONTAP MIXED security model in which an ACL stored by one protocol (NFS or CIFS) is incompatible with the other protocol and it is only possible to manage an existing ACL via the protocol from which it was set. Unified ACLs can contain any combination of UNIX and Windows users and groups. It won’t matter which protocol is used to attempt access since the ACEs control access, including whether or not a trustee (user or group) can read or modify the ACL Unified ACLs apply to Infinite Volume Vservers only; standard FlexVol Vservers continue to use the legacy mixed security model. Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 – Licensing Model Overview Changes Remains the Same Entitlement Model No changes. FAS Controller/Node specific licensing Licensed to lifespan of the controller, to the initial “sold to” customer only HA-Pairs must be uniformly entitled Clusters remain uniformly entitled Compliance Enforcement Relaxed enforcement within a cluster Uniform Cluster licensing contractually enforced, but not technologically enforced within a cluster Compliance enforcement is managed primarily through license keys EULA Audit provisions License Keys Unified set of SW SKU’s regardless of mode, connected to one key generator One set of keys per feature, regardless of mode, to simplify sales & cluster transitions Each key embeds a controller serial # Keys are no longer portable between controllers Demo/Eval Keys are now date specific with install counts eliminated 7-mode concept of “license key in a key slot” to activate a revenue feature remains, this concept now works across a cluster as well NetApp Confidential – Limited Use

Clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 – Licensing Model Overview Changes Remains the Same Order Sales can quote either version 8.1 or 8.2 ASUP & prior cluster sales data available to promote uniform entitlement Complete Bundle renamed to Premium Bundle Current GA release is the default software option ONTAP SW Packaging & Pricing Fulfillment PTO will support 8.1 until inventory close out Burdensome “Inc-tot” cluster licensing gone! CTO Systems arrive with license keys installed PTO to inventory latest GA ONTAP version License Keys available on SupportSite per Controller or Cluster Serial Number Support Cluster reconfigs & expansion does not require new license keys if node(s) have matching entitlements SupportSite shows all Controllers in a cluster & associated keys Better process for key creation or replacement to facilitate faster transitions 90 day licensing grace period to provision real- time head-swaps & take entitlement transfers off of Service’s critical path Cluster Create requires a Cluster Base license key Break/fix Head Swaps require entitlement transfer License Keys available on SupportSite NetApp Confidential – Limited Use
