Link Reaction Link Reaction and The Citric Acid Cycle.

The Link Reaction or Transition Reaction (named this because it links glycolysis to the Krebs/Citric Acid cycle).

Citric Acid/Krebs Cycle (see Fig 8.8 and 8.9 in text)

1. First reaction: 2. Decarboxylation reactions:

3. Oxidation reactions: 4. Substrate-level phosphorylation reactions:

Number of yielded molecules worth mentioning so far (Glycolysis, Link Reaction, and Citric Acid Cycle) that came from one glucose molecule. Glycolysis 2 NADH + H + 2 ATP Link reaction (remember there are 2 pyruvates that enter this reaction) 1 NADH (x2) = 2NADH 1 CO 2 (x2) = 2CO 2

Citric Acid/Krebs cycle (remember there are 2 Acetyl-CoA that enter this cycle) 2 CO 2 (x2) = 4 CO 2 3 NADH (x2) = 6 NADH + H + 1 FADH 2 (x2) = 2 FADH 2 1 ATP (x2) = 2 ATP
