AFWA Organizational Structure

Vice CSAF Memo, 3 Oct 14 Develop a program action directive (PAD) to realign the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA), a FOA of AF/A3/5, to Air Combat Command and re-designate it as 557th Weather Wing. Prior to re-alignment, select AFWA resources will be realigned to AFMC, AFSPC, and AETC via Memoranda of Agreement to support the transfer of acquisition and training missions from AFWA to the respective MAJCOMs. PAD will be completed no later than 1 Jan 2015. Tasked organization: AF/A3/5 (PAD 14-03) Effective date: as specified in PAD 6

Data Sharing with COPC Partners – FY 14 Telecommunications Operations Center (TOC) AFWA provides military obs (if on the releasable list), TAFs, and bulletins TOC provides WMO obs, TAFs, bulletins, RAOBs, aircraft reports, and NEXRAD Level 2 / Level 3 data TOC provides failover of Circuit 78Y2 (A/N) if primary COPC comm fails; occurred twice this year for total of 5 days NCEP AFWA provides CONUS / NH ensembles to the Weather Prediction Center WWMCA cloud model analysis to the Environmental Modeling Center for cloud verification GEPS post-processed ensemble members NCEP provides GFS, NAM, NUOPC global ensemble members 12

Data Sharing with COPC Partners – FY 14 NESDIS AFWA provides WWMCA, SnowDepth, and SSM/I AFWA provides DMSP support to the Satellite Operations Control Center Planning, launch, and early orbit testing for F19 NESDIS provides S-NPP/JPSS data; Aqua and Terra MODIS METOP A and B; NOAA 15/16/18, and 19 MTSAT; Meteosat 7; and GOES E/W and Nrn/Srn hemisphere winds NOAA polar orbiting scheduling text files DMSP data collection/delivery above 99% mission success rate 13
