LAW 17 THE CORNER KICK

DEFINITION A corner kick is awarded when the whole ball has: v Crossed the goal line in the air or on the ground v Was last touched by a defender v A goal was not scored

WHERE Kick is taken from the nearest corner

Do not allow the corner flag to be moved or removed WHERE

The ball is placed inside the corner arc Incorrect position Correct positioning Some part of the ball must be inside the corner arc or on the corner arc line PLACEMENT

Opponents must be at least 10 yards away from the corner arc line ! 10 yards ENCROACHMENT From the line, not the ball!

ADDITIONAL POINTS v Kicker may not touch the ball again directly (“two touch”) v A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick against the opponents v The ball has left the field if it crosses the goal line in the air but curves back in v The ball is in play when it is kicked and moved
