Origins MPs, Tony Lloyd, Paul Goggins and Kate Green, approach Bishop about establishment of commission to explore poverty issues in the conurbation not a Church report but a multidisciplinary body looking at the nature, causes, impact of and possible solutions to poverty across the sub-region at the start however, we were the active partner in this and the prime body in driving it forward

Terms of Reference Overall Aim: examine the extent and impact of poverty and (inequality) across GM, raise awareness of issue and report on causes and possible solutions Commissioning Group: The GM MPs The Commission will: –measure overall extent of poverty in GM –determine principle domains of poverty that impact –determine differential impacts of poverty on different groups within GM –determine the causes of poverty within GM –recommend integrated policy solutions to mitigate the effects of poverty –challenge all sectors, public, private and voluntary & community to implement policies
