1. Introduction Sugalidal results from the merger of 2 tomato leading companies. 2 SUGAL: Established in 1957 is located in Azambuja (50 km from Lisbon pier) in one of the main tomatoes grounds. Specialized in Tomato Paste and Pizza sauce for high quality markets of Europe and Japan (ex: Heinz, Premier Foods, Cargill, Freiberger, Campbell´s, Unilever, Bulldog Sauces, Nippon del Monte). IDAL: Established in 1946 is located in Benavente (60 km from Lisbon pier) in the larger tomato ground area,. Ex Heinz affiliate from 1961 to Manufacturing Paste, Retail and FS Products for world wide brands and market leader in Portugal with own Brand (ex: Heinz, McDonalds, BK, Panzani), SUGALIDAL generates an important value-added in Portugal with a production value (COGs) of 100 million euros and employs 390 people plus average 400 people during the crop. Our factories represents an important role on the European Tomato Industry and a vital role for the Portuguese Agro Industry, for the employes and for the growers.

6. Agricultural Operations 5 CIFO, our own agricultural affiliate represents Heinz Seeds into the EU most important markets, Italy, Spain, Greece and Portugal, plus Turkey. Was key player on the hybrids development and agro techniques implementation in Europe starting in Portugal. R&D program includes, annual tomato mini trials for Heinz, Observation and Commercial trials, for variety evaluation in its agronomic and technological characteristics, benchmarking, and recommendation for the EU Community Catalogue registration Sugalidal is integrated in one of the biggest Agricultural group in Portugal, enabling partial integration of Tomato supply, including breeding, nursery facility for 80 million plants and 1500 ha fields production. Sugalidal with tomato know how and experience from seeds to plate.

Per example this year CIFO developed 7 trials in different fields with 67 varieties of which 39 mini trials for Heinz with 39 samples and 1 repetition. Farmers and PO’s technicians are invited every year to trial visits to discuss varieties evolution and agronomic performance, permitting them to take there options. CIFO also coordinates the Commercial trials model that is replicated in minor scale in the other countries of CIFO Heinz representation. There is also a sampling method of 140 samples to evaluate the industry characteristics, conducted in our Pilot Plant that replicates the industrial process Agricultural Operations – R&D Sugalidal dedicates attention and resources to Agro R&D

Manufacturing footprint – Paste Quality, Flexibility, Innovation, Sustainability Sugalidal invested 15 million euros in the last 2 years on Paste Manufacture, to build up modern, efficient, process control, and environmental friendly facilities to enable production of the best possible Paste. We ensure Top Quality Paste to serve our added Value factory and our co-packing partners needs. This high investment effort was also targeting reduced energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 20% in 5 years. 7
