Individual Strengths & Qualitites for a Specific Role When analysing individual Strengths & Weaknesses, three factors must be addressed Physical – related to your Body Personal – Mental & Emotional Technical – Skill & Techniques

All in the group have to write answers on Worksheet Task 1 In your group: You are going to be given a 3 positions You then have to decide what Physical, Personal & Technical Qualities are appropriate for each position All in the group have to write answers on Worksheet

Individual Strengths & Qualities for a Specific Role Physical Height Strength Speed Personal Competitive Motivated Composure under pressure Technical Range of passes Spatial awareness Shooting accuracy Effective performance of individuals is vitally important to the success of the team. Any strategy used should try and make the best of players’ strengths and minimise any weaknesses. For Example: Tallest players as GK & GS, fittest player as C and most accurate shooters at GA & GS.

Team Strengths & Weaknesses Although players should be aware of their individual strengths & weaknesses, they should also be aware of how successful/unsuccessful they are as a team and be able to identify team strengths & weaknesses. When analysing a team the focus should mainly be on Technical aspects of the game. For example; Linking passes Movement up the court Group Dynamics Communication Success of strategies e.g. Backline pass or Centre Pass. This will help the team with focus during training but more significantly the ability to devise strategies to suit team strengths & weaknesses.

Success within a Team For a team to work effectively all players must cooperate, communicate & carry out their roles and responsibilities to the highest level possible. This also means being able to adapt/change quickly to meet varying game demands

Tactics When you carry out a particular strategy you will apply certain tactics to achieve your goal. A tactic is a plan to attain your goal Tactics will vary according to the strategy you carry out and could vary or be adapted depending on circumstance

Tactics When adopting to use tactics you must: Identify and exploit your opponents weaknesses Maximise strengths within chosen strategy.

Both write down answers! Task 2 In pairs – Can you come up with potential opponents weaknesses - Physical, Personal & Technical. Then come up with how you could maximise your strengths – Think individual Strengths & Roles Both write down answers!
