The Learning Immersion and Talent Development Magnet Programs Create accelerated learning environments Utilize various instructional and assessment strategies based upon multiple intelligences research Emphasize using technology to enhance integrated curriculum

Talent Development students in grades 3 – 5 experience a full day of rigorous, academically challenging instruction.

LI students have the opportunity to explore strength-based instruction reflecting individual student strengths.

Magnet Objectives:  Create scholarly, thoughtful classrooms  Promote scholarly behavior and language  Foster critical and creative thinking  Create 21 st century learners and global thinkers

Scholars…  are always ready to participate.  are hungry for new information.  are always setting goals to achieve.  are always exercising their brains.

Scholars…  look at things from multiple points of view.  take good notes and use multiple and varied resources.  are always asking questions and pondering information.

Magnet students receive rigorous instruction in content extending the Common Core State Standards and Essential Standards. Learning experiences are organized around:  “Big Ideas” - Concepts/Themes  Generalizations  Emphasis on thinking and reasoning skills

Problem Based Learning Experience “ Investigate the effects of a recent and especially destructive natural disaster. Design a relief plan to support those impacted by the disaster. Prepare a presentation and media release to implement the plan.”

Magnet Schools build a scholarly staff by: Encouraging gifted certification. Attending the Annual LI/TD Magnet Institute. Providing a full-time Talent Development teacher in each school who plans with LI/TD teachers. Attending Magnet Articulation meetings. Attending professional development offered by the Talent Development Department.
