CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY – Brief History The Building of CCI-Blagoevgrad The Chairman of CCI-Blagoevgrad, Mr. Romeo Shatev CCI Blagoevgrad was founded in 1992 as an independent NGO of the employers. The main function of the chamber is to protect the economic and business interests of its members, to provide information and to consult companies in South-West Bulgaria. The Chamber also promotes the business and its financial stability and competitiveness in the area. It has more than 1400 voluntary members.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a part of the unified system of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry which includes 28 regional chambers and it is incorporated to the world network of trade chambers. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry established municipal business representatives in the municipalities of BLAGOEVGRAD, SIMITLI, RAZLOG, BANSKO, PETRICH, KRESNA, STRUMYANI, GARMEN, YAKORUDA, BELITZA AND HADZIDIMOVO.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry also host a few additional centers functioning: Export innovation center Entrepreneurship center Motivation center Vocational training center CE Marking and EU policy for safety of products and quality standards consulting center

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Blagoevgrad is a host structure of Europe Direct-Blagoevgrad information center, part of Europe Direct network of EU. Europe Direct is a plays the role of a direct link between EU and its citizens at local level. Europe Direct also provides the citizens of the EU with valuable information about how the EU works and how can they take advantage of their privileges as EU citizens.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Implements successfully projects under ETCP Greece-Bulgaria and cross-border cooperation programme financed by the new “European Territorial Cooperation” objective through the IPA fund and co- financed by Bulgaria and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia:  LONG LIFE TRAINING AS A TOOL FOR IMPROVEMENT OF EMPLAYABILITY AND COMPETITIVENESS /EMPLOCOMP/  REGIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES /RBDICT/  PROMOTION OF RURAL AND MOUNTAIN TOURISM THROUGH THE USE OF ICT AND ISO CONSULTATION BETWEEN BULGARIA AND FYROM /FRESHAIR/  PROJECT SCULTBORD UNDER THE GRUNDTVIG PROGRAMME FOR LIFELONG LEARNING OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION
