Screens Rear projection screen requirements Viewable from all angles High contrast Focused Minimal reflection Cleaning of screens : Avoid to touch screens !!!! See user manual for cleaning instructions. HVA screen The screen has a very good contrast level and wide viewing angles. The screen is recommended for all applications except where speckle is an issue. HVM screen (cross prism screen) While featuring higher brightness and about the nearly complete absence of speckles, this screen is softer and is more susceptible to color differences between screens. Thus the screen is recommended mainly for utilities applications with black background or for video intensive applications where the tiling color/brightness uniformity is less an issue, e.g. in non-backdrop broadcast applications or surveillance applications. HVX screen (single prism screen) This screen has a very high gain and consequently a very high brightness on-axis. This luminance level is most probably not in sync with the luminance level of other task areas in the control room. Due to the non-adequate luminance level, the big differences between brightness on-axis and off-axis, and due to the low vertical half gain angle and the trend to some ghost images.

Screens Screens can be mounted in different ways. Expand/shrink due to temperature and moisture Canned Minimal gap between screens Visible gap Only 50” and front access 70 “ Canned – seamless No gap Screens push against each other Only 50” Stitched Small needle like wires hold the screens together No gaps Only from 70” onwards Both Seamless Canned and Stitched technology allow the screens to move, expand and contract, when the ambient conditions for the control wall change. Canned seamless: screens are pushed together with a spring system in the screen structure, the screens are not connected to each other Stitched: screens are stitched together with metal thread at time of installation.

Projector Alignment Correct geometry on the screen by tilting the projector in its frame Service personnel only ! Don’t touch screws that are fixed with Red paint. They are never needed for adjustments. Best sequence for alignment: Keystone Shift Rotate Repeat from Keystone until alignment is satisfactory

Components : Dual Lamp system 120W/132W lamp two lamps in each projector Switch automatically upon failure Lamp lift mechanism This results in Fast lamp replacements Possibility to automatically re-calibrate the PU color sensor by comparing this color spectrum with the Sensors measurements. Lamp can be set from 120 to 132 Watt 10 % more light, but BUT 6,000 hours instead of 10,000 hours expected lifetime !!! License required. (See BCM-BLM section) Option for alternative 180W lamps. A lot more light but, Expected lifetime 6000 hrs.

Components : Intelligent Lamps 120W/132W lamp power Lamp ID chip The lamp swap is plug and play: Position via the sliders in the illumination unit ensures good contact for the power connection The lock hold the lamp in place. The OV2 lamps have a chip inside that stores : Serial number Lamp runtime Color spectrum Optimal lift position (lamp optimization) Lamp is cooled by it’s own fan the cooling goes through the housing of the lamp for better performance Air inlet for burner cooling Mounting handle and locking mechanism

Lamp cut-off voltage – lamp retry When lamps get older they can Simply stop working and refuse to start again Explode…… : no danger ! The lamps are Ultra High Pressure (UHP) lamps. They contain two electrodes that start up and maintain an arc. This arc is the source of the light. As the lamp ages: The electrodes ware out. The resistance between the electrodes rises (With stable current: the voltage over the lamp rises) The light becomes dimmer as the glass is more and more blackened When the voltage over the lamp in normal operation exceeds a certain value (cut-off voltage), the lamp driver will indicate lamp failure. However, the voltage rise could have multiple causes (voltage fluctuation). In that case, it is possible to reset the lamp and retry it. Often the lamp can be reignited and used again. However, if it no longer ignites, you should not try to ignite it again, but replace the lamp in stead. 120W-132W cut-off voltage: 138V Graph not representative, for illustration purposes only !

Maintenance actions Defective lamp : Air Filter Replacement Retry lamp first (reset error + reselect lamp) When fails again (same day) Replace lamp Lamp warm-up – wait 2 min. Optimize the new lamp! (only possible in service mode). Air Filter Replacement Dependent on Contract and/or Need Don’t shake the dirty filter Dispose used filters – DO NOT CLEAN

BCM: Brightness Lock 3 basic modes: Uncalibrated Brightness locked Brightness locking not active so dimmer wheel stays in last known position. Color correction not active so native colors are shown. Brightness locked The brightness is dynamically controlled with the dimmer wheel by using only the brightness information of the color sensor. The colors are static. Sense 6 (License required, see BLM) Next to Brightness, color is also dynamically controlled. This is done with the DMD chip. MENU, WALL, COLOR & BRIGHTNESS MODE Uncalibrated: shipment standard (no calibration data available) Brightness locked: (Menu, Wall, Properties, Brightness Lock:) Disabled: Projector does not update any color or dimmer setting. Maximized: All projectors are continuously aligned for a light output equal to the highest output of the dimmest lamp Fixed: All projectors are continuously aligned for a light output equal to a set value Sense 6 (Menu, Wall, Properties, White Point & Gamut) Apply Average White: The average off all available lamps is calculated as white target. The gamut may be slightly less because of the adjustment. (preferred setting) Apply Max Gamut: To have maximum amount of available colors for all lamps, white target may differ from average. Set custom white point
