Goals of Session Provide insights to successful employer-driven training and wraparound service models through community college partnership with Goodwill Demonstrate opportunities for sustainability in a revenue sharing model Build interest in and encourage partnerships between community colleges and Goodwills to support common missions

Mission Results 2010  2.4 million individuals served  More than 170K people placed in jobs— one every 42 seconds of every business day  84 percent of revenues funded employment programs and support services  167 million shoppers; 74 million donors annually  $4 billion generated; 2 billion pounds of donated goods diverted annually  More than 2,600 retail outlets  U.S., Canada, and 13 other countries Donated Goods/Retail 2010 Goodwill ® generates opportunities for people to achieve economic stability and build strong families and vibrant communities by offering job training, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges.

C4: Purpose Increase college and career success for low- income adults through: documenting, promoting, and replicating high impact partnership models throughout the Goodwill and community college networks.

C 4 Partnership Models Revenue Sharing: Co-Enrollment– northern VA –Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) –Goodwill of Greater Washington Shared Assets – Winston-Salem, NC –Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina –Forsyth Technical Community College Revenue Sharing: Alternative Career School Model – Good Careers Academy, San Antonio, TX –Goodwill Industries of San Antonio –The Alamo Colleges

Unique Components: Co-Enrollment Model CREDENTIALS EARNED:College Credits toward a Credential REVENUE SHARING:College collects tuition. College compensates Goodwill for faculty and training site. INSTRUCTORS:Employed by Goodwill- receive Adjunct Faculty Status WRAP-AROUND SUPPORTS, SOFT SKILLS AND JOB PLACEMENT: Goodwill COLLEGE ENROLLMENT / FINANCIAL AID PROCESS: NOVA College Liaison conducts enrollment at Goodwill site. Pell grants awarded. FINANCIAL AID:Pell Grants awarded.

Unique Components: Shared Asset Model CREDENTIALS EARNED:Stackable Continuing Ed Credits and Certificates. REVENUE SHARING:College collects tuition directly from most students. Some tuition passes through Goodwill from public agencies to college. INSTRUCTORS:Employed by Forsyth Technical Community College WRAP-AROUND SUPPORTS, SOFT SKILLS AND JOB PLACEMENT: Goodwill COLLEGE ENROLLMENT / FINANCIAL AID PROCESS: Most students enroll directly with college. Some are enrolled by Goodwill as cadres. FINANCIAL AID:Not awarded. Many courses are free to students through NC State program.

Unique Components: Good Careers Academy CREDENTIALS EARNED:Continuing Education contact hours (some convertible to credits under further study) and Certificates REVENUE SHARING:Goodwill purchases courses from Alamo Colleges. INSTRUCTORS:Alamo Colleges: Continuing Ed instructors. Goodwill: Job Readiness trainers. WRAP-AROUND SUPPORTS, SOFT SKILLS AND JOB PLACEMENT: Goodwill COLLEGE ENROLLMENT:Alamos Colleges Liaison conducts enrollment at Goodwill site. FINANCIAL AID:Pell Grant eligibility after Goodwill obtains career school accreditation.
