School Improvement Plan 6 Main Areas School Profile – Operational Vitality Mission and Belief – Catholic Identity Desired Results for Student Learning – Academic Excellence Analysis of Instructional & Organizational Effectiveness – Academic Excellence & Governance and Leadership Action Plan Administrator’s Responsibility

Strengths & Weaknesses Specific Measurable Goals to Document School Profile – Operational Vitality Mission & Belief Statements – Catholic Identity Desired Results for Student Learning – Academic Excellence Analysis of Instructional & Organizational Effectiveness – Governance & Leadership Plan Action Complete Picture Accurate Account Data Analysis Student Performance Perceptions Strengths & Weaknesses Specific Measurable Goals to Document

SIP First 4 Areas –collecting and analyzing data to get a complete picture of the school’s history, where it is now, and setting goals for future progress Action Plans Make the Goals concrete and measurable Analyze the data Adjust the goals as needed

SIP – Steering Committee Role Communication – continual communication about the process with all stakeholders Training of school staff in the process Consensus Building – continual communication between Area Committees, Steering Committee, and school staff to develop ownership of the entire process and final document Membership Chairperson or Co-Chairs Minimum of 4 other members (chairpersons of Committees for Areas 1-4)

Key Parts of the Process Review Standards and Benchmarks Analyze data / Analyze results What does this look like? How do you do it? Conversations, discussions, consensus building Use the worksheets for the benchmarks and gather supporting evidence Dissect and compare results of student performance data (over time, by grade level, by gender, etc.) Compare survey results between staff and parents and students

Area 1: School Profile – Operational Vitality The Process Administer the Catholic Identity Survey Analyze the results of the related questions Review and update profile data from previous school improvement plan Review The National Catholic Standards, Benchmarks, Rubrics, and Evidence Complete, through consensus, the worksheets for Standards 10-13 Determine the top 2 areas of strength and the top 2 opportunities for growth

Area 2: Mission and Belief Statements and Catholic Identity The Process Collaboratively update and/or create new statements Review The National Catholic Standards, Benchmarks, Rubrics, and Evidence : Mission and Catholic Identity Complete worksheets for standards 1-4 Analyze the results of the related questions from the Catholic Identity Survey Determine the top 2 areas of strength and the top 2 opportunities for growth

Area 3: Desired Results for Student Learning – Academic Excellence The Process Analyze student performance data Review The National Catholic Standards, Benchmarks, Rubrics, and Evidence : Academic Excellence Complete Worksheets for Benchmarks 7.1-7.4 and 9.1-9.3 Analyze the results of the related questions from the Catholic Identity Survey Determine the top 2 areas of strength and the top 2 opportunities for growth

Area 4: Analysis of Instructional & Organizational Effectiveness – Academic Excellence continued & Governance & Leadership The Process Analyze instructional program data Review The National Catholic Standards, Benchmarks, Rubrics, and Evidence: Academic Excellence (second half of standard 7 and standard 8) and Governance and Leadership Complete Worksheets for Benchmarks 7.5-7.10 and Standards 5 & 6 Analyze the results of the related questions from the Catholic Identity Survey Determine the top 2 areas of strength and the top 2 opportunities for growth

Area 5: Action Plan The Process Review the work and results of the committees of Areas 1 through 4 Using a collaborative process, determine the top three goals Write an Action Plan for each of the three goals to include the Goal Statement, Evidence of success, and Strategies to achieve the goal (including timeline, person responsible and resources)
