Tuesday, January 20 th is Inauguration Day.

On Inauguration Day, the President takes the Oath of Office. This is a promise he makes to the American people. He takes the Oath of Office on the steps of the US Capitol.

The Presidential Oath of Office is a BIG promise that is made few words. You take an OATH every day when you say the Lifelong Guideline Pledge. It has 25 words. How many words do you think Mr. Obama will say when he takes the Oath of Office? Remember…it’s a BIG PROMISE!! There are 37 words in the Presidential Oath of Office.

When the President takes the Oath, he says: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. I promise I’ll be a good President and I will do my best to make sure that our laws are followed and protected.
