birth Richard Nixon was born on January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, CA. When he was ten his family moved to Whittier, CA

Childhood He attended public school in Yorba Linda, CA and then in Whittier, CA

Education He attended Whittier College and later attended Duke University.He played college football he was #12 on his team.

1st Jobs Richard Nixon worked as a trolley driver, and he worked at his family’s gas station and grocery strore.

“Pat” Ryan Nixon met Pat when he auditioned for a play, Pat was also auditioning for a part. Nixon later wrote “It was love at first sight for me.” In 1940 they were married.

1st Political Years »He moved to Washington D.C. when he became US official for emergency management as a Republican.

World War II »Nixon decided to join the the US Navy, by the end of the war he became a lieutenant commander

More Political Years He ran for congress and became the senator for California he investigated the communist party and its spies.

Alger Hiss Case Nixon studied Alger Hiss,an old member of Congress who was accused of giving information to Communist leaders.Nixon’s hard work led to Hiss being charged with perjury,lying under oath.

Vice President Nixon In 1953, Dwight D. Eisenhower became president with Nixon by his side as vice president. Dwight's Nickname was Ike and Richard's was Dick. Popularizing the phrase “ Ike and Dick click! ”

Accusations of dishonesty Despite Nixon’s popularity a few accusations almost took him off the ticket. They accused him of taking money and gifts. In his world famous Checkers speech he explained that he only took one present a dog and his children loved it.

Re-elected as vice president In 1955 Eisenhower and Nixon were re- elected for a second term. Even though Ike having a second term was questionable after his stroke.

FINALLY BECAME PRESIDENT!!!! In 1968 Nixon became president with Spiro Agnew as his vice president. Agnew later resigned because he was accused of taking bribes. So, Gerald Ford became vice president

First people on moon!!! While Nixon was president on July “Buzz” Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first humans on the moon.

Even Nixon liked Elvis! While Nixon was president, he invited Elvis to the White House.

Resignation and after presidency. On August 9,1974 Nixon resigned so he would not be impeached.After resigning he returned to California and wrote 11 books before his death in Pat Nixon died a year earlier in 1993.As president he had strived to bring world peace.
