GUNTER PARK SURVEY BY: PAIGE GARNER

POOlS

FIBERGLASS POOL Advantages: The gel coat surface of the fiberglass pool shell is nonporous. This inhibits the growth of algae and reduces the amount of sanitizing chemicals required to maintain the pool. Most manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty against leakage. There is no vinyl liner to replace. The gel coat surface of fiberglass pools is smooth to the touch. Most fiberglass pool designs have seating and all have steps incorporated into the shell of the pool. The shell is manufactured off site and delivered on a trailer. Since a big part of the work is done off site, the installation time is short. Disadvantages: Because fiberglass pools are built from a mold, the consumer is limited to the shapes and sizes offered by the various fiberglass pool manufacturers. Fiberglass pools are shipped via the road. Shipping restrictions limit the width of the fiberglass pool shell to 16′. Many fiberglass pool manufacturers use colored finishes that do not match in the event that a repair is needed. The lifetime warranty usually does not cover fading or cracking of the surface. Fiberglass pools cost more than vinyl liner pools to build. If the site has a major slope or ground water present, it may not be the best choice. Cost: average of 30,000Dimensions: average of about 12' width x 24' length

VINYL-LINED Advantages: Vinyl liner pools have the lowest initial cost of any of the three types of in-ground pools. There are no limitations of the length, width, and depth of vinyl liner pools. The vinyl liner material is smooth to the touch. Liner replacement is relatively quick and clean and can be completed in a day or two with out any heavy equipment. Disadvantages: On average a vinyl liner will last between 7 and 10 years at a replacement expense of $3,000-$5,000 including labor and materials. While liners are made of durable material, sharp objects, pets, and patio furniture falling in the pool are all concerns. If the site has a major slope or ground water present, a vinyl liner may not be the best choice. Cost: about 18,000Dimensions: 10’ by 24’

CONCRETE Advantages: Concrete pools can be any size, shape, or style. There are almost no limits to what can be done. With the proper engineering, a concrete pool can be build on the side of a hill or virtually anywhere. Vanishing edges, beach entries, shallow lounging areas, etc. are all possible with a concrete pool. Concrete pools can be integrated into a design with materials such as tile and stone to become a piece of landscape art. Disadvantages: Concrete pools are typically the most expensive to install. Also, they may need some renovation every years. This is usually more involved than the other types of pool repairs depending on the expense of the materials used. Water care is very important to prevent staining or deterioration of the finish material. Concrete pools typically take longest to install of the three choices Cost: minumum of 25,000Dimensions: 14’ by 25’

BASKETBALL COURTS

SILICON Advantages: Suitable for all weathers as well as elasticity and resilience, and can reduce the consumption of physical force and improve game results. Different combination of colors can assure beautiful appearance. Not faded, dusted or softened by ultraviolet ray, ozone or acid rain but keep its vivid color for quite a long period. Easy to install ( it will be used in 24 hours after we use the special adhesive on the condition of labour power and machine) Maintain high quality in any season or under any temperature difference and be used immediately after rain, increasing service time and field utilization rate. Disadvantages: The material used for these courts can melt very easily Out of all these courts silicon is the most expensive Cost: 10,000Dimensions: 84’ by 50’

PVC Advantages: Environment friendly: Made of PVC pure virgin material High quality and longest service life: One-off scrape coating techniques. Wear resistance, moisture proof, slide prevention, shock absorption, fashion and beautiful, etc. Easy installation and maintenance. Disadvantages: More expensive than a asphalt court Cost: $7 per square meterDimensions: 84' by 50'

ASPHALT Advantages: Still remains as one of the most popular basketball courts because of its strength and durability It can withstand harsh weather conditions Disadvantages: Unfortunately, asphalt will break down over time and can be prone to cracks, chips and other surface imperfections Asphalt can also contribute to injuries, especially on falls where its unforgiving nature can lead to cuts, scrapes or worse Cost: 4,000Dimensions: 84’ by 50’
