Student Eligibility All eligible candidates must illustrate service to the College, Community, or Osteopathic profession as well as demonstrate excellence in academic achievement based on the following criteria: 1.A minimum GPA of 85% and a strong record of community involvement/ extracurricular activities (i.e. T.O.U.C.H. award) since matriculation at NYCOM and a successfully completed application for admission 2.Participation in a minimum of 5 hours community service per term 3.Demonstrate leadership by chairing and coordinating at least one community service project before the end of the third year Membership Selection Process Preliminary Application extended to up to top 25% of 3 rd year class 1.Applicants are given 2 weeks to back a completed application which consists of a survey of their club involvement; leadership roles; community service at NYCOM, outside of NYCOM, & prior to matriculation 2.Application also includes three mini-essays detailing applicant’s assets, rewarding community service experience, & project ideas 3.Selection committee convenes to review applications & vote on membership 4.Applicants are notified by of their acceptance and provided with an invitation to attend the induction ceremony Community Service Events Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Special Olympics events The above events were organized and attended by the entire Omega chapter. Individual members also organize events with smaller group of volunteers. Goals 1.Organize more community service events for the chapter as a whole 2.Involve the first and second year students in club activities 3.Increase fundraising
