The Gymnasium School No 28 ”Mihai Eminescu”, is situated downtown Galati, which lies in the South – East of Romania, on the Danube River. This school was inaugurated in 1963, but at first it worked as a Girl School (only girl students admitted). Meanwhile, it has become one of the most numerous, most distinguished and important school in the county.

Now, the Gymnasium School No 28 “Mihai Eminescu”, has got 700 students who are grouped in 2 schooling cycles: primary classes (from Ist – IVth grades), with students between 6 and 10 years old and gymnasium classes (from Vth – VIIIth grades) with students between 11 and 14 years old. In the course of time, it has kept the rank of the school with the best results.

The teaching staff is made of primary school teachers for primary school, and gymnasium teachers for lower secondary school, who have a permanent statue in our school, in fact 85 % are tenure teachers. There are also in our school an auxiliary staff (9 persons) and maintainers and cleaning staff (7 persons). The school has also a financial centre which coordinates the school and pre-school activities.

The Curricular Structure The common curriculum: Compulsory subjects: Romanian, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science, etc. Optionals: American Literature, Entertaining Maths, Informatics, etc. The teaching activity consists of: Classes, in two shifts, from 8am to 12pm for primary students and from 12pm to 19 pm for gymnasium students.
