School Year Grade 11 Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Graduation Requirements OCS requires passing 25 Carnegie Units of Coursework to receive The Alabama High School Diploma. Passing all standard coursework is required for diploma type. Passing 5 out of 5 sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.

New Graduation Guidelines Beginning with the ninth grade class of the school year, ALL students will have to complete in math either Algebra II or Algebra II with Trigonometry. We are expecting some changes to the Math Path. As a result, a placement test will be used to place the students in the appropriate math path. Beginning with the ninth grade class of the school year, ALL students will have as their default diploma option the Advanced Endorsement to the Alabama High School Diploma. Should a student and his/her parent or guardian determine that the Advance Endorsement is not appropriate for the student’s educational needs, the parent or guardian may remove the student from the Advanced Endorsement by meeting with the student’s counselor and completing the Endorsement Change Request Form. This change in endorsement may occur prior to the student entering ninth grade or at logical points throughout the student’s high school experience. Included in the newly adopted requirements of the Advanced Endorsement to the Alabama High School Diploma is the requirement that all students will have an Online Experience (teacher led or blended instruction).
