¿What is halloween? Halloween is a holiday celebrated mainly in the United States, northern Mexico, and some provinces of Canada on the night of October 31. It originated in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday of All Saints' Day. In large part, is a secular celebration but some feel that has a religious background. Irish immigrants passed versions of the tradition to North America during the Great Irish Famine of 1840.

The seventh-century Christian church celebrated the feast of All Saints in May, but people still waiting for the arrival of ghosts on October 31 and the feast of the saints was changed to November1.

THE CUSTOM OF TRICK: The custom of trick or treating began in Europe with a custom of the ninth century. On November 2, Christians walked from village to village asking for "soul cakes" which were pieces of bread with "currants." The more you get, the more promising to pray for the dead relatives of the donors, which leads souls to heaven faster. In the tenth century the church changed the feast of the saints to November 2.
