Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation (CPCSC) is approximately 15 miles south of Indianapolis in Johnson County. The district encompasses the town of Whiteland, IN and parts of larger surrounding communities. It includes 10 schools that serve approximately 6,300 students in grades pre-k through 12. It is one of the fastest growing corporations in the state. CPCSC has square miles of land area. As of 2010, the total population was 32,318. The median household income was $59,857 and the median house value was $122,200 from CPCSC was listed by the U. S. Directory as a Low-Income School from CPCSC was rated 4 out of 5 by USA.com. Report Card A Letter Grade

NCLB and AYP  In 2001, congress passed No Child Left Behind. The first thing to understand about the law is that it pretty much means what its name suggests: every child should be passing state tests on math and reading.  Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) requirements mandated by the federal NCLB law gave the states control over how they would measure whether a student was “proficient.” States set the standards, wrote the standardized tests, and set the formula for student growth.  The goals of NCLB are that all schools and districts receiving funds for socially and economically disadvantaged children (Title I) must bring all students up to state standards by PUBLIC RELATIONS PROJECT

Indiana and AYP  Schools in Indiana that do not show growth will be on improvement status which consists of a series of interventions that become more extensive for each additional year a Title I school does not make AYP. It takes two consecutive years of NOT MAKING AYP in the same subject area (English or Math) to enter school improvement status and two consecutive years of MAKING AYP in that subject to be removed from improvement status.  Corporations and school in improvement status that make AYP for one year remain at the current year of improvement. If the corporation or school makes AYP the following year, it is removed from improvement. If AYP is not made the following year, improvement status interventions continue to progress.  One of the requirements to a school being on AYP is developing an intervention plan which is where Whiteland Elementary School has been for PUBLIC RELATIONS PROJECT
