 The Prešov Region is predestined to transborder cooperation for it’s geographical position  The Prešov Region borders Poland to the north and Ukraine to the east  The most intensive transborder cooperation is with the colleagues from Poland  Cooperation of transborder areas on the Slovak – Poland border is consistent with an inter-government agreement closed in 1995 between the Governments of Slovak Republic and Poland Transborder cooperation

In year 1999 the Prešov Region became the member of an inter regional society - Carpathian Euroregion which consists of the part of Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania

 Cooperation on the statistical field started in 1993  Statistical cooperation from it´s beginning consisted of mutual introducing meetings, both-side consultations and change of statistical materials  The result of these consultations in 1994 was the first Slovak-Poland statistical publication: “Selected statistical data in the year 1992”  After successful edition of the first common publication the contacts have became more intensive  Today the cooperation includes not only invitations to an international statistical seminars and conferences, but also social and sports events Transborder cooperation

Honours Transborder cooperation

The highest honour of the Central Statistical Office in Poland was awarded to Mr. Ján Cuper  for his personal addition in development of cooperation between Statistical Officies in Poland and SO in The Slovak Republic  as well as for considerable share in development of transborder cooperation in the Carpathian Euroregion.
