Japanese Uniforms were introduced in the late 19 th century. As of Today you will almost see in ALL public and private schools children/teens wearing uniforms. Majority of elementery students do not have to wear uniforms, They get to wear their normal street clothes. The uniforms are generally Very classy, with many distinct features such as, Ties for boys, and girls, Skirts for girls, pants for guys.
Students are able to take part in many club activities: Such as Base ball, Tennis, basketball, gymnastics, Soccer, Judo, Intigrated arts, and Volleyball. There are also many culture clubs which they take part In, starting with the art of the Tea Ceremony, and flower arrangement. These are very important things to know how to do in their culture.

Japanese children enter the first grade of elementary school in the April after their sixth birthday. There are around 30 to 40 students in an average elementary school class. The subjects they study include Japanese, mathematics, science, social studies, music, crafts, physical education, and home economics (to learn simple cooking and sewing skills). More and more elementary schools have started teaching English, too. Information technology is increasingly being used to enhance education, and most schools have access to the Internet.
Children/Teenagers tend to bring an “ おべんと ”But also in Japanese schools, they sell more western food like spaghetti,tacos and pizza.
