Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project Summary of annual savings from various EEMs Guaranteed savings kWh / year

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project Percentage contribution to savings by various EEMs

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project EEM # 1 - Lighting Estimated contribution to gross savings 38.26% Proposed improvements are Replace existing fluorescent tube lights with energy efficient T-5 fluorescent tube lights and electronic ballast Replace GLS lamps with CFL / T-5 FTL with electronic ballast Replace sodium vapour / metal halide street lights with T-5 FTL- based weatherproof street lights

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project EEM # 2 - Air-conditioning Estimated contribution to gross savings 37.51% Proposed improvements are Install occupancy sensor above work-table, to ensure that AC operates only when the space is occupied. Integrate a wireless thermostat in the same sensor which helps in controlling the workplace temperature (instead of the regular AC thermostat which measures the return-air path temperature) Have hand-held field programming devices for changing wireless thermostat temperature set-points

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project EEM # 3 - Canteen Heating Estimated contribution to gross savings 4.21% Proposed improvement is Replace existing electrical storage geysers with energy-efficient LPG- fired on-line water heaters Cost of additional LPG expense to be borne by the ESCO

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project EEM # 4 - Winter Heating Estimated contribution to gross savings 18.54% Proposed improvements are In air-conditioned space, use the occupancy sensor and wireless thermostat to regulate the usage of the heaters within a set temperature range and at the time of occupancy only In non-air-conditioned space, replace existing electrical blowers with more efficient (hence lower capacity) blowers / quartz heaters with rotary operation to ensure proper heat circulation

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project EEM # 5 - Water Pumping Estimated contribution to gross savings 1.48% Proposed improvement is Replace one 10 HP water pump each in Shram Shakti Bhavan and Transport Bhavan premises, with efficient submersible pumps All other pumps have been installed after 2002, and hence, need not be replaced now.

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project Project schedule at a glance

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project Case Study: DISCOM model, AECo, Ahmedabad Total installation base70,000 Nos. T-5 retrofit FTL (and still growing) Savings in VA4.2 MVA ParticipantsIndividual consumers Current statusOngoing

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project The DISCOM model - advantage utilities Reduced peak demand load on account of energy savings. Improved power factor, enhanced system capacity and lower T&D losses - all at zero investment. 60 kVA reduced load for every 1000 units installed. Additional revenue by way of collection charges. To pay money to AEL only if the money is collected from consumer.

Shram Shakti Bhavan / Transport Bhavan Energy Services Performance Contracting Project The DISCOM model - advantage consumers Reduced energy bill. Monthly installments can be paid from savings. Easy retrofit installation in existing fittings - no change in wiring Increased and better quality of light. Model available to cater to new fitting requirement
