PEANUT Nagoya 2006/12/08 M. Komatsu

Scanning trials Feb : BL039,040,041,050,052,060 –PL1 and 2 scanned with S-UTS prototype. –SFT matching has done. But we faced alignment problem by corner for Scan Back with plate changer system. March 2006 : BL112,118,BF021 –PL1 and 2 scanned with S-UTS prototype as same as previous trial. –X-ray mark alignment perfectly work! Special thanks to Gina and Byron June, July 2006 : SFT prediction by UTS scanning –PL1 and 2 was scanned based on SFT predictions. –S-UTS was not available due to fabrication of new track recognition hardware.

March trial X-ray guided alignment S-UTS scanning with limited angular acceptance <0.15 SFT matching has done –BL118 = 799 tracks, BL112 = 506 tracks and BF021 = 402 tracks –Select interesting events by SFT eye check. 14 triggers and 15 tracks selected. –3 neutrino interactions located

PEANUT BL118 –Brick assemble : Nov./25/2005 –Beam exposure : Nov./25/2005-Feb./28/2006 –X-ray marking : Mar./15/2006 –De-packing : –Arrival from Fermilab : Mar./20/2006 –Develop : Mar./20/2006 –Doublet film scan : Mar./21 (20hour by S-UTS) –CS emulation by SFT matching : Mar./22 –Track follow trial : Mar./22 –Location trial : Mar./23

X-ray Generator X-ray mark exposure bench 1m Exposure time : 5 sec Angle : 4.8 degree

X-ray Fermilab We brought X-ray exposure bench to Fermilab X-ray generator X-ray slit 50  m wide PEANUT brick X-ray slit

CS emulation (SFT matching) S-UTS(UTS unit) scanning –tan(  )<0.15, 100cm 2 x 2 film = 20hour –matched tracks are tagged in 2mm, 40mrad mm rad

Scanning using X-ray X-ray Brick Intersection of two planes (X-ray) defines a reference line in the Brick. Reference Point X-ray

SFT based UTS trial BL118 –428 tracks are selected for UTS scanning. Require multi 3D tracks trigger. –124 tracks found by UTS. –50 triggers are selected by SFT eye check. Plate changer based scan back was applied for 50 candidate tracks –18 tracks stopped in BL118 brick. These are sent to vertex confirmation process.
