Nymph stages are similar in appearance to the adult stage except for SIZE (grasshoppers) Lack wings Several instars Growth Nymph stages generally feed on the same food sources as adults.

Some insect species complete their lifecycle several times each year (known as generations or broods). Other insect species may require a number of years to complete one life cycle (17 year cicada).
