Like a Good Neighbor Luke 10:25-37

Like a Good Neighbor We serve without distinction to race. This Samaritan served a Jew. The people of God cannot care about race. Jesus sat and talked with a Samaritan woman (Jn 4). “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (Jn 3:16). Partiality in our service is expressly condemned: Js 2:1- 4.

Like a Good Neighbor We serve according to need. The Good Samaritan served the injured man according to need. God expects us to serve according to need. The early church gave to the needy “as anyone had need” (Acts 2:45). “Whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (1 Jn 3:17).

Like a Good Neighbor We serve at a cost. Serving cost the Samaritan. Serving is going to cost us. Serving cost Jesus His life (Matt 20:28). Serving cost Barnabas (Acts 4:36-37).
