The 3 Minute Research Presentation (3MRP) is a competition where graduate students explain their Thesis Research, Dissertation Research, Capstone Research, or Creative Work and it’s significance in a “face-to-face” presentation format. This presentation will be delivered to an intelligent, non-specialist audience in three minutes with the aid of one stationary slide. More information may be found on our website:

CLICK TO EDIT MASTER TITLE STYLE B ACKGROUND Draws from 3 Minute Thesis (3MT ® ) Developed by University of Queensland in MT ® is a form of research aimed at: “Developing academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.” NAU’s 3MRP competition will allow students to: Communicate the significance of their research/creative work to an audience in a public forum; Use easily understandable language for an intelligent, but non-specialist, audience; Present thesis, dissertation, or non-thesis capstone research OR creative work to the public.

CLICK TO EDIT MASTER TITLE STYLE E LIGIBILITY Open to Master’s and Doctoral students in good standing who have made substantial progress on research and analysis or creative work related to their academic program Students must not have graduated prior to March 1, 2015 Students must be enrolled at time of entry but may still compete if they defend and submit their final thesis or dissertation prior to conclusion of the competition in April 2015 Presentations must be based on research directly related to the student’s thesis, dissertation, creative work, or current research capstone project. Research related to past or current employment should not be presented Research and creative work MUST BE completed and/or analyzed prior to participating in 3MRP preliminary heats. Abstracts should not submitted for proposed research or creative work that will not be analyzed and/or completed at the competition events. Participants from the 2014 competition are eligible to compete. All competitors will be required to: Attend ONE training session and AT LEAST ONE practice session Agree to be videotaped and to media exposure for their presentation and research.
