CCS EDUCATION IN ACTION 8 National CCS Week Challenge Student Movie:

CCS in Japan: Resource adaptation and workshops  The Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE) in Japan working with the Institute  Education workshops to be held in Kyoto and Osaka in:  Schools  Universities  museum  science centres  Education resources adapted from the Institute’s ‘Introduction to CCS’  Adapted by Japanese education and science specialists  RITE are planning to implement it in more locations in Japan

CCS in Spain: community outreach in Hontomin  CO 2 storage project in Hontomin, North West Spain  Creative activities for adults and children to:  help improve local understanding of climate change and geological storage of CO 2  Activities organised in local community venues, at project site, and as part of local festivals  Activities included:  Cooking with CO 2 classes for children  Educational outreach workshops on CCS  Wine tasting and CO 2 seminar for adults  Geological Gymkhana around the village of Hontomin  All resources are available in Spanish and English anderson/2013/12/17/engaging-local-communities- hontomin-spain

International CO 2 Degrees Challenge  All classes and groups working to learn more about CCS and the importance of reducing CO 2 emissions will be encouraged to take our International CO 2 Degrees Challenge:  Challenge to improve understanding and engagement with energy, climate change and CCS by designing creative science communication projects on the topics students have been researching!  From September, students will be able to share their work and ideas through the secure CO 2 Degrees Education Extranet.  Program of expert webinars for students and teachers on sustainability and low-carbon technologies.  The very best Challenge materials will be showcased on the new CO 2 Degrees public website.
