Interrogative words: words in any language that ask a question

  Interrogative words in English may include words such as; What, Who, When, Where, & How Interrogative words

WHAAAAAAAT? (WHAT) ¿Qué? The word Qué ask the question “what?” It asks for for a definition, identification or classification.

EXAMPLE ¿Qué es la musica? (What is music?) ¿Que quieras? (What do you want?)

Who? ¿Quién?  ¿Quién asks the question of who did what.  I.E.) Who took out the trash? ¿Quiénes?  ¿Quiénes asks the question who all did what.  I.E) Who all did their homework?

Example ¿Quién tiene el libro? Who has a book? ¿Quiénes hicieron su tarea¿ Who all did their homework?

¿Cuando? Cuando ask the question of when. I.E.) When is this class going to be over? WHEN?

¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? When is your birthday? Cuándo empieza la clase? When does class start? EXAMPLE

Dude! Where are you? (Where) ¿Dónde? Dónde means where I.E.) Where are my shoes? ¿De dónde? De dónde means from where? I.E) Where are you from?

Example ¿Dónde está mi libro? Where is my book? ¿De dónde eres? Where are you from?

How? ¿Cómo? ¿Cómo can be used to express how. It is, however, sometimes used to express what in certain circumstances….. That’s a different lesson (; I.E) How did you get that?

Example ¿Cómo estás? How are you? ¿Qué tan bien cantas? How well do you sing?
