Subcommittee Members  Kenny Hulsey, Chair  Alice Cutter, TWC  Jeff Gibson, Comcast  Andy Parrott, Suddenlink  SCTE Staff Liaison – Robin Fenton

Subcommittee Objective Provide a structure to ensure that the SCTE chapters provide quality and relevant training needed within the industry through ongoing analysis of topics and categories that would be most valuable for the industry and the organizations within the industry.

2012 Subcommittee Accomplishments  Conducted training-needs analysis 1,044 members completed the analysis Resulted in the following topic recommendations: New Products and technology IP/IPv6 Troubleshooting Outside Plant Customer Premise/Installation

2012 Subcommittee Accomplishments  Reviewed and evaluated whether we have chapters is all needed areas. Compared chapter locations to technical workforce of corporate alliance partners Comcast – 82% are within 90 miles of a chapter Time Warner – 65% are within 90 miles of a chapter  Developed a standard evaluation to assess training quality and relevance.

2013 Subcommittee Accomplishments  Conducted Local Chapter Surveys 14 question survey feedback from attendees on chapter training Goal is for attendees to take this survey on their phones so short links and QR codes were provided.

Chapter Survey Results  90% or greater of those surveyed agreed or strongly agreed with the following statements: The instructor was knowledgeable about the topic. The instructor was prepared for the training session. SCTE chose an environment that was conducive to learning. The objectives were appropriate for the intended audience. Material provided will be useful to me on the job. The scope of the material was appropriate to meet my development needs.

CHAPTER SURVEY RESULTS  89% or less agreed with the following statements: The product or technology covered in this training is being used by my company now. I did not feel the instructor was trying to sell ma a particular product brand. The content presented was relevant to my current job. The training I received in this session will improve my job performance.

I DID NOT FEEL THE INSTRUCTOR WAS TRYING TO SELL ME A PARTICULATE PRODUCT BRAND.

SCTE CHAPTER TRAINING PORTAL  Overview Provide SCTE chapter leadership with online technical lectures they can use to quickly develop training agendas for chapter meetings  Delivery modes Purely canned narrated PPTs (like existing modules), facilitated by and with Q&A afterwards by chapter leadership Delivered by chapter leadership after reviewing canned material and developing their own notes for presentation Supplemental Materials including one page leader guides, chapter area for feedback and printable handouts with key learning objectives.

SCTE CHAPTER TRAINING PORTAL  Delivered through custom iCohere portal  Chapter leaders sign contract that includes NDA.  Chapter leaders must deliver using online portal, unable to download PPTs or notes.  Portal and PPTs will include SCTE marketing materials and opportunities for chapters to enhance and improve SCTE content.  Timeline Procedures (contact, contest, etc.) by June 1 st. Four 1hr blocks of training to be available by June 30 th Four additional 1hr blocks uploaded every quarter

TRAINING I RECEIVED IN THIS SESSION WILL IMPROVE MY JOB PERFORMANCE.

Next Steps  Rollout training “toolkits” to all chapters.  Work with the Professional Development Committee to identify subject matter experts (SME) and communicate those individuals to the chapters.  Continue to evaluate chapter training. Provide the feedback to the chapters Use the feedback to help scale quality training to all chapters.
