“THE SOLAR NEBULAR THEORY”
A huge nebula condenses under its own weight due to gravitational attraction.
contracting, rotating, spinning and begins to flatten into a disk The nebula is contracting, rotating, spinning and begins to flatten into a disk.
The sun forms in the center and rocky material collides, forming bigger and bigger clumps that become the planets. This process of clumping together is called accretion.
The sun contracts, and begins to shine. Nuclear fusion has taken place. Intense solar radiation called the “ T- Tauri Wind ” blows away un-accreted gas and dust, clearing away extra debris from the planets. This reduces impact collisions!
The Sun begins to burn hydrogen and the planets complete their formation. Our solar system is made up of one star, 8 planets, an asteroid belt, 166 moons, several dwarf planets, comets and icy, rocky bodies in the Kuiper Belt at the outermost region of our system.
