The side walks of New York

A friend of yours is having a party in her Manhattan apartment, which borders Central Park. She gives you the following directions from your place, which also borders the park. 1.If you are coming after dark, head east for three blocks, going around the park, and then go north for two blocks. 2.If you can come early, you can cut through the park, a shorter route.

You leave your place early and decide to cut through the park. You want to compute the shortest distance, D (in blocks), between your apartments.

You decide to figure out the angles that you path makes with the streets. Use your calculator to determine the inverse tangent, inverse sine and inverse cosine. (Make sure your calculator is in degree mode)
