THE PRIDE OF LIFE – MARK 7:22,23 BEAUTY LUXURY WORK POSSESSIONS

Betrays real love Factor behind all the sneaky tricks in society For where your treasure is there your heart will be also. Mt 6:21 False Hope False Security The Love of Money “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money, have wondered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grieves,” 1 Timothy 6:10.

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, go south to the road- the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. Acts 8:26 Key Text: Acts 8:26-39

So he started out and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship. Acts 8: 27

He was the finance minister of his country He was a worshiper of Israel’s God The Ethiopian Man He was a states man

He was a EunuchHe was a proselyte This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. Acts 8: Bought himself an Isaiah scroll

I wonder, after church service, camp meeting, prayer meeting, revival meetings, training or any religious gathering. How many people read their bibles? Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the messages with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul was saying was true. Acts 17:11

The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay next to it.” Acts 8:29 “Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading from Isaiah the Prophet…”

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, go south to the road- the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. 1 1 The Word of God The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever. Isa 40:8 Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words will never pass away. Mt 24:35 “..the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” Isa 33:6

For the scriptures testify of Jesus Christ. John 9:35 “Now the Bereans were of noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the messages with eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” Acts 17:11 “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” John 1: 1-3

Consequently faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Rom 10:17 “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder.” James 2:19 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because any one who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” Hebrew 11:6

As they traveled along the road they came to some water and the eunuch said..

2 2 New Birth Therefore if any man is in Christ he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come. 2 Cor 5:17 Bible study and a personal commitment to God results in new birth experience.

“ I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again, of water and of the Spirit. John 3: 3,5 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will also be. Mt 6:19:21

3 3 Qualification for Ministry God chose Philip a man full of faith and of the holy Spirit. Acts 6:5 He was a servant of the Lord Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, go south to the road- the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he started out and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship. The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay next to it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading from Isaiah the Prophet Acts 8:26-39

Philip was a man of the scriptures. He poured out his knowledge of scripture and the good news of Jesus to the Ethiopian who was converted straight away. Philip was a man of God.

“The science of a pure, wholesome, consistent Christian life is obtained by studying the word of God. This is the highest education that any earthly being can obtain.” MCP p.11 EG White

It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Mt 4:4
