GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL How to have a proper grip of God’s word in our lives ! 1. HearRom 10:17 2. ReadRev 1:3, Deu 17:19 3. StudyActs 17:11 4. MemorizePs 119: MeditatePs 1:1-3, Josh 1:8

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Let the Word of God have proper grip on us. “If you keep on obeying what I have said, you truly are my disciples.” John 8:31(CEV)

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL How to meditate on the Scriptures? Meditation is not mind-wandering Meditation is not a solemn academic exercise. Meditation has a form and an object. It is directing our thoughts to a single topic. Meditation is thinking with a purpose.

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL It is crucial step toward fully knowing and obeying God’s will. Here are five methods of meditation you may want to try: It requires an attitude of curiosity and expectation, and leads to Exciting discoveries, A refreshed spirit, And transformation of character It brings reward and benefit.

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL 1. Paraphrasing: Some exciting insights can come from rewriting a verse or passage in your own words. This exercise can be made even more challenging by using as few words as possible in your paraphrase. For example, Isaiah 26:3 reads: “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL You could also paraphrase this to: “You promise freedom from worry to the person who trusts you completely without any doubts in his mind.”

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Suppose you are worried and restless and are not experiencing inner peace. You know this does not please the Lord, but you can’t help it. You decide to meditate on Isaiah 26:3 as a source of help. Is this really available to me? What does it mean to have perfect peace? How can I trust God more? “You promise freedom from worry to the person who trusts you completely without any doubts in his mind.” Relate the verse to your own circumstances. As you think about the verse, you ask yourself,

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Will my son get admission into any professional course! Will my job contract be renewed this year! What if my health breaks down! Then you might make a list of things that trouble you. How to find a good match for my daughter!

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL My job! My health! My marriage! My Family! My future!

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL The key to spiritual maturity is applying God’s word to your life. Am I ready to trust God to take care of these things for me? Am I willing to make a conscious effort to really trust Him? Now look at the items listed one by one and ask yourself - “My grace is sufficient unto to thee” Devil brings to your attention tomorrow’s problems and expect you to tackle them with today’s grace!

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL 2. Asking Questions: You can sort through the information in a verse by asking who, what, where, why, and how questions that come to mind as you memorize and reflect on it. (You may not come up with answers for all your questions.) For Isaiah 26:3 you could ask, More examples! Noah’s Ark – rudder ! Seeds - 30, 60 & 100 fold fruit – Why is the difference? Luke 19:10 And “Why does God provide this perfect peace?” “Who does God give prefect peace to?” “What attitude toward God do I need to have in my mind?

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL 3 Praying: 3. Pray over the passage: Praise God for the way his character is revealed in the verse; thank Him for any promises you see, and claim these in your own life; and confess any failure which the verse may bring to mind. Think “out loud” with God as you meditate.

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL 4. Emphasizing different words or phrases: This simple exercise involves fixing your focus on small parts of the verse and how they relate to the verse as a whole. For Isaiah 26:3, you could emphasize these words and think of their implications: “You will keep in perfect peace,” And so on “You will keep in perfect peace,”

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL “Lo! I am with you always”

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL 5 Finding cross-references: Try to think of other passages, which relate directly to the meaning of the verse you are memorizing. Look for the relationships between various parts of Scripture can be stimulating, and will help you again an overall view of the major themes in God’s word. Again considering Isaiah 26:3, you might think of Philippians 4:6-7, I Peter 5:7, or Matthew 11:28

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Exodus 19:4-5 You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Some Questions: Is it possible to carry anything on the eagles’ wings – except through a miracle? Where were they brought to ? – Health, Wealth & Prosperity?? Are we pursuing the ‘gifts’ or the ‘Giver’?

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Exod 19:4-5 Exod 19:4-5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' What questions can we ask ourselves on these verses?

GOD’S WORD : LIFE FOR ALL Isa 49:2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. What questions can we ask ourselves on these verses?
