Most people live on Honshu, the largest island. Kyushu also has many people—and many volcanoes. Shikoku is nestled between Kyushu and southern Honshu. Earthquakes are very common in all the islands, though most do no damage. Weather: Hokkaido has long snowy winters and cool summers. Honshu has hot, humid summers.
