Dante and Virgil meet Phlegyas, and he brings them across Styx They pass over and through the sinners of wrath and sullenness They arrive at the city of Dis, the capital city of hell Virgil has a confrontation with the fallen angels at the gates of DIS

Phlegyas: The mariner on the Styx who comes for Dante and Virgil Filippo Argenti: Florentine resident; had differed politically with Dante Fallen Angels: Angels that literally rained down from heaven Three Furies, and Medusa: Medusa was one of three sisters known as the Gorgons, so frightening any one who looked at her turned to stone

Crossing the River Styx
