 Uses Gonk  Linux kernel and HAL  HAL: hardware abstraction layer  Gonk is a device porting layer: an adapter between the hardware and Gecko

 The Gonk software was paired with the Gecko web browser engine  Gecko’s fuction is to read and render web content (examples: HTML, CSS, XUL, JavaScript)

 The front end of the operating system.  Default apps:  Bluetooth, Browser, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Cost Control, Dialer, FL. FM, Gallery, Homescreen, Keyboard, Music, PDF.js, Ringtones, Search, Setringtone, Settings, SMS, System, Video, Wallpaper, and WAPPush.

 Still being perfected  Multiple app stores  Possibly confusing to new smartphone users

 It is can fit on a small amount of memory  Makes it usable on very cheap phones letting it reach a new group of people who could not afford smart phones before.
