TYLER ROGERS 12/7/14 Project on the book thief Mrs. Coleman

SUMMARY Most of the novel takes place in a city in Germany. There’s this Character named Liesel when she was only nine years old her brother died and she got separated from her mother. The narrator of the story is Death. When liesel was separated from her mother she was put into a foster home. The people she lived with were the hubermann family. Liesel was forced to go to school by her foster parents but it was very hard for her to do her work because she could read or write and people started to make fun of her for it. After that very sad day at school she was sad and depressed she felt like she was hopeless but Hans Hubermann secretly taught her how to read and write so she would be made fun of anymore. The first book that liesel read from start to finish was the grave digger's handbook and Hans was so proud of her but Rosa was like yea whatever. Liesel and her foster family went out to a bomb fire to celebrate the Nazi party members but what she saw in the bonfire was a book about how the Nazi behaved to the Jews and what they did to them. She stole the book but she didn’t think it was stealing because someone wanted to burn it. The mayor’s wife saw liesel steal the book from the bon fire but didn’t say anything and walked away. Liesel meets her best friend Max and he was a Jew but Liesel didn’t really care and she didn’t know what Hitler was doing to the Jews. Max taught her how to steal things like food and water. She doesn’t really know better because her mother didn’t care about her for nine years she wouldn’t talk or do anything until she met Max Hans and Rosa. Death ends the story by telling us how Liesel died and how awesome her life was with her new friends and family.
