Obedience is first and foremost a commitment to God Obedience is an active pursuit not a passive obligation Obedience is both an action and an attitude Obedience is not optional in the case of imperfect parents and parenting Honor celebrates and recognizes the worth of God’s gift of parents Honor continues into adulthood (1 Timothy 5:8) “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother,” Ephesians 6:1, 2 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” 1 Timothy 5:8
