High School 101  7 period day – 6 classes and 1 period for lunch/homeroom  School begins at 8:20 and ends at 3:30  56 minute class periods with 6 minutes in b/w classes  Progress Report every 6 weeks  Final grades posted at the conclusion of each semester Yearlong Course = 1.0 credits One Semester Course =.5 credits  Grading Scale: A (90-100) B (80-89) C (70-79) 7 additional points are added to a final grade higher than 70 in approved Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses

High School 101-Grading In Middle School grades are calculated using the system of averages. Example 8 th grade English *Semester *Semester 2-80 *Yearly average- 70 (student passes class) In High School grades are not averaged… Each semester is independent. Example 9 th grade English *Semester *Semester *No yearly average (student fails 1 st semester)

High School 101 High School Credits from Middle School  Students can earn HS credits for math and/or world languages: 7th and 8 th grade world language equals 1.0 high school credit. Students/Parents may choose to accept or deny the credit and retake the course in high school.* High school credits earned in middle school are not included in HOPE Scholarship GPA calculations * More information will come from the Middle School at the end of the school year.

Closing Thoughts  Students are responsible for the information in the student handbook.  Students must be in class on time.  Students may carry a backpack in school.  All students stay on campus for lunch.  There is a dress code.  Freshmen are eligible to try out for sports.  Teachers have high expectations.  Students will make new friends.
