Summer 2011 – What’s Changed?  Beginning Summer 2011, there will be one term (2115) and multiple sessions. What does this mean?  Maymester, Summer I, and Summer II schedule remains the same. This structure will be handled with sessions as opposed to terms.  This change will benefit our undergraduates who are trying to qualify for federal loans during the summer.  Cumulative Statistics (total credits, GPA, etc) will be represented for the entire Summer term.

Fall 2011 – Priority Schedule Entering Term in ResidenceFirst day of Registration 8 th or more term in residenceMonday, April 11 th 7 th term in residenceTuesday, April 12 th 6 th term in residenceWednesday, April 13 th 5 th term in residenceThursday, April 14 th 4 th term in residenceFriday, April 15 th 3 rd term in residenceMonday, April 18 th 2 nd term in residenceTuesday, April 19 th 1 st term in residenceWednesday, April 20 th 0 terms in residenceThursday, April 21st

Terms in Residence in ConnectCarolina  Starting with first registration in ConnectCarolina, terms in residence were the basis for registration appointments (note that the registration schedule now says “entering term in residence”)  Key difference in ConnectCarolina, term in residence is “awarded” at start of term, not after term is completed  Positive Impact on Study Abroad Student  For transfer students and part-time students, terms in residence are now awarded for every 15 hours transferred in  Where to best see Terms in Residence? Records and Enrollment>>Student Term Information>>Term Activate a Student>Terms in Residence

Academic Level in ConnectCarolina Classification (Class Standing) All students who begin their undergraduate career at UNC–Chapel Hill are considered first-year students for the first and second semesters. In their third semester and thereafter, a student’s classification (sophomore, junior, senior) is determined by the cumulative number of credit hours earned: 1–29 credit hours earned: First-Year Student. 30–59 credit hours earned: Sophomore. 60–89 credit hours earned: Junior 90 + credit hours earned: Senior Source: Undergraduate Bulletin,

Keeping a First Year Student a First Year Student …All students who begin their undergraduate career at UNC–Chapel Hill are considered first-year students for the first and second semesters.  Class and grade rosters will list what the student’s current academic level is based purely on credit hours. Students who have enough BE hours to push their level to sophomore (or even junior) will be listed at this level.  All first year students have a positive service indicator that marks their status as first-year students for their first two semesters.  Reserve capacities for first-year students look at this indicator, not at academic level. Conversely, all reserve capacities that restrict enrollment to a level above first-year, explicitly exclude students with this indicator.

Couple Quick, Random Updates  Anyone remember screen 105? Query that replicates this screen and will have real-time information on enrollments for all classes in your subject(s) is ready and will be available for Fall 2011 registration  Have questions or need documentation for ConnectCarolina?
