Why Research? Allows students to explore the topic of their choosing and interest Applies cumulative science content into real world applications Students learn valuable skills such as scientific process, organizational techniques, time management, note taking, and writing Can obtain up to 12 college credits while still in high school (UHS SUNY credits transferable to many colleges) Provides an advantage for college applications and interviews

What is Science Research? 3 year course (Sophomore year- Senior year) Students research, design and conduct their own experimental research studies Year 1: Sophomores – Refresher of scientific process – Searching & Reading Journal articles – Narrowing down topic – Seeking Mentor Year 2: Juniors – Designing Research Plan – Approval of research plan – Conducting research plan Year 3: Seniors – Completing research – Competing & Presenting research
