A man heard our prophet peace be upon him talking about the virtue of fasting on Monday, so he vowed to fast on Mondays for the rest of his life and he kept fasting each Monday of every week.

One time Monday corresponded to a feast and he was quite sure that our prophet peace be upon him restricted fasting on feast days whether it was the Korban Feast or El Fitr. So, the man approached Ibn Omar (peace be upon him) and said:" I vowed to fast each Monday but it happened that this Monday is a feast, so what am I supposed to do?"

Ibn Omar said: Allah gave his orders to fulfill the vows taken whereas our prophet (peace be upon him) restricted fasting during that day (approved saying). Some religion legislators said: he should apply non-fasting during such day and be exempted from his vow and others said: he should fast another day in return for such day.

The fasting person could use the siwak, wash, put khol, smell perfumes, goggle, inhales water without swallowing and swallow his saliva if not possible"
