Kangaroo Kangaroos of different types live in all areas of Australia, from cold-climate areas and desert plains, to tropical rainforests and beaches. Kangaroos are herbivorous, eating a range of plants and, in some cases, fungi. Most are nocturnal but some are active in the early morning and late afternoon. Different kangaroo species live in a variety of habitats. Potoroids, for example, make nests while tree- kangaroos live above ground in trees. Larger species of kangaroo tend to shelter under trees or in caves and rock clefts Kangaroos of all sizes have one thing in common: powerful back legs with long feet.

Dingo Dog A dingo's habitat ranges from deserts to grasslands and the edges of forests. Dingoes will normally make their dens in deserted rabbit holes and hollow logs. Dingoes tend to be nocturnal in warmer regions, but less so in cooler places.habitatdesertsgrasslandsforestsdensnocturnal

Major Mitchell Cockatoo The Major Mitchell cockatoo is in fact named after Major Sir Thomas Mitchell, who was an explorer of South-East Australia during the 1800s. Major Mitchell cockatoos are found across inland Australia. Their main requirements are fresh surface water and trees that have large hollows for nesting. During the day, the cockatoos are found on the ground and in the trees eating seeds – particularly acacia seeds, fruit, nuts and tubers. At dawn and dusk they gather at waterholes to drink.

Platypus The platypus is found in eastern Australia. They live aside freshwater rivers or lakes, and create burrows for shelter and protection. They are active mainly at night time hours, and use their webbed feet for swimming. When swimming the platypus has its eyes shut. Platypuses feed on insect larvae, worms or other freshwater insects. They do so mainly at night, by the use of their bill.

Koala Koalas live in eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees they love are most plentiful. In fact, they rarely leave these trees. When not asleep a koala feeds on eucalyptus leaves, especially at night. Koalas do not drink much water and they get most of their moisture from these leaves. During the day they doze, tucked into forks or nooks in the trees, sleeping for up to 18 hours

Tasmanian Devil Devils are found in all habitats on the island of Tasmania. They are active during the day, though they are nocturnal hunters. Despite its rotund appearance, the devil is capable of surprising feats of strength, climbing trees and swimming across rivers. Devils can't run at high speeds to chase down prey. Tasmanian devils eat meat from snakes, birds, fish and insects. Their prey can reach up to the size of small kangaroos. They use their excellent sense of sight and smell to hunt prey.

Kookaburra The Kookaburras nest is usually made in the hollow of a tree with a large opening at the front...if the hole is too small it will often peck it out with its large strong beak to make it big enough. The Kookaburra has a varied diet, its favourite foods are Lizards and Snakes but it also enjoys Insects, Earthworms, Fish, Frogs and Toads, Mice, Rats and other rodents. Kookaburras have keen eyesight and are fierce hunters, when they catch their prey they will beat it against a log or rock to kill, then pound it with their beak to soften the meat making it easier to eat.

Hope You Enjoyed it Goodbye from us and the Australian animals.
