His family were very wealthy. He was very well spoken, with a posh voice. He committed suicide sometime in late November by throwing himself into the River Thames. He was English, slim and fair skinned. He played cricket on Sept 8 th and the first ball was bowled at 11.30AM. He was a headmaster.

Mr Severin Antoniovich Klosowski Age: 23 at time of murders Possible Crucial Information: He was from Poland and emigrated to London in He couldn’t speak English very well during his first couple of years in London. It was rumoured that he trained as a surgeon when he was younger but he certainly worked as a simple and modest barber when he reached London. He found a wife (Lucy) whilst in London. She said he used to stay out until the early hours of the morning regularly. They moved to America in Lucy reported that during an argument once, Klosowski told her he meant to kill her, cut off her head and bury her. She left him. He had another three wives afterwards, he beat them all and poisoned them all to death. Police discovered he was poisoning his wives after the third victim and arrested him.

Mr Michael Ostrog Age: 55 at time of murders Possible Crucial Information: He was known to be very educated, he spoke seven languages and very good English. He was a Polish Jew or a Russian. He was 5ft 10 inches tall, has a dark complexion and a dark moustache. Was rumoured to have been extremely cruel to women and one man in 1894 described him as “…unquestionably a homicidal maniac.” Was said to have been a doctor and carried surgical instruments around with him, although this is questionable. This is the suspect of whom we can be least sure of details.

Francis Tumblety Age: 55 at time of murders Possible Crucial Information: Was trained in medicine and claimed to be a top doctor wherever he went. May have been born in Canada, or Ireland, but lived in Canada for his first 27 years before moving to America and finally England in There are two incident whilst he lived in Canada and America of people dying under his care. He was arrested and ran away both times. Showed acquaintances jars of preserved women’s uteruses, they supposed (possibly correctly) that he had them as a result of his medical past. He married a women who he loved above anything else. One day he found out his wife was secretly working as a prostitute. He was known to suffer from paranoia. He left England for good in late November He had lots of money, and was very clever. He moved around a lot and whenever he did he changed names and wore different styles of clothes. Police found it hard to keep up with him.

Prince Albert Victor Age: 23 at the time of murders Possible Crucial Information: He was the grandson of Queen Victoria. Joseph Sickert came forward in the 1960’s and said his father had told him the following. Prince Albert Victor was said to have been looked after by a close friend of the Royal Family; Walter Sickert. Whilst under Sickert’s care the Prince met Annie Mary Crook a poor young girl, but he fell in love with her, married her and began living with their child Alice. When the Royal Family found the Prince was living with a poor girl in the East End they ordered that this must be stopped. Annie was taken away but Alice escaped as a toddler with her nanny, (the last victim) Mary Kelly. It was said that Mary Kelly told her friends; Mary Anne Nichols, Annie Chapman and Elizabeth Stride. They were all murdered as a cover up by the Royal Family. Catherine Eddows often called herself Mary Kelly (this is fact) and he murder of Eddows was a mistake. The real Mary Kelly was found soon after and disposed of.
