Part IV, “Our Wall Our Recognition” A Road less Traveled, Sunset has fallen over more of our Sisters and Brothers. The road of life has ended and they now travel on a different road. There are no exits from that road, and they will not return to us from it. It is one-way, and it is permanent. And while we weep for our losses, pray for strength and hope for an ending to this conflict, we have to realize the reality that we too will one day travel this road ourselves and on that day, we will see them again. But for today, let us take the time and share the grief of others. Let us recognize their contributions and sacrifices and say a prayer for those who still walk close to that road everyday. It is easy to forget the tragedies of today when the politics of yesterday over- shadow them. But, we all have to look forward to the day when the fighting has ceased and our loved ones return from those distant lands to rejoin us as Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Daughters and Sons. Say a prayer for all of them, and pray for an end to this conflict. 2,529 American service women and men have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, 229 of them were of African Descent. “It may be long before the law of love will be recognized in international affairs.
