The gazebo and drinking fountain 1920s (above) and 1950s (below). The platform is still in place. The gazebo should be rebuilt.
Spectacular exotics such as the Travellers Tree should be increased. Only one has recently been replanted.
Palm varieties have decreased in the gardens, as these pictures show. No Royal Palms have been replanted. There has only been the repetitious planting of Golden Palms and Merrill’s Palms in past decades.
The Botanic Gardens was wrecked by Hurricane David This has been used as an excuse for the state of the Gardens……..but that was 25 years ago.
