PIXAR: 20 Years of Animation
Pixar: 20 Years of Animation showcases the multidisciplinary talents of Pixar Animation studios, tracing the creative processes from the earliest hand-rendered drawings through to digital technology. The show illustrates the story and imagination central to Pixar with a range of 2D and 3D artworks as well as spectacular immersive environments.
The exhibition spans all of Pixar’s ten feature films: -Toy Story -A Bug’s Life -Toy story 2 -Monsters Inc. -Finding Nemo -The Incredibles -Cars -Ratatouille, -WALL*E -UP The collection of artworks expose the process from initial idea through to final piece.
The exhibition features concept drawings and sketches showing the development of characters, hand drafted storyboards and “colorscripts” that visually demonstrate the mood of key scenes in the films.
Paintings, pastel drawings, collages, digital paintings and sculpture also feature.
Accompanying the artworks are digital media pieces, interactive information kiosks and a range of highly innovative installations.
Zoetrope Pixar technology has revolutionised the concept of optical illusion and created a real time, 3-D zoetrope that brings to life the characters of the movie Toy Story.
Artscape The Artscape is an immersive video wall and sound installation (8ftx48ft) that turns many of the artworks featured in the exhibition into 3-D images – truly immersing you into Pixar’s world.
