Fundamental to building a sense of calm, life balance and resilience is the ability to take time out – if even for a few moments – and to turn within and consider satisfying responses to various daily challenges. To build this ability we need to familiarise ourself with some of the fundamental concepts that form a foundation to our reflective practice. This short program is designed to introduce you to some of these foundation concepts whilst guiding you on a short journey of reflection which will help create the mental space needed for your regular personal reflective practice. HOW TO USE THIS PROGRAM The length of this exercise is about 3 minutes. The pace of the slide changes has been designed to encourage you to take time to reflect, thereby gaining more from this exercise. Simply ensure that this program is running in full-screen mode and that the sound is turned on. Then click this screen and the presentation will run automatically. I hope you enjoy your reflection, Mandy

I resolve to take some time out to be with myself

reflect … to think … to process my thoughts. I remind myself … to be present … here, now

… with my own thoughts

… and whatever they are, … without judgment. I accept them I am taking this moment to step back, recalling …

that I am much more than my reactions … or my fleeting, unpredictable emotions …

and that I need this time, this space … to form responses, and to connect with my authenticity … rather than just react …

be my own thoughts … to be my own person … to know my resilience.

If I can observe things as they really are …

see the way life renews itself continually … … then resolves in change

… I can also tame the effect … and on this crazy world. that change has on me

I can choose …

… how I respond quietly flourish and

in mindful ways that are …

… spectacular

I am content with my self-assurance borne on my insight and … in restless times …

… balance.

… now give yourself a few more … now give yourself a few more moments to observe your thoughts … moments to observe your thoughts … … and take a breath as you return to your day. Any comments or questions? Please me at … or go back to
