Ecolab Confidential 8 Surface waters can be affected by excessive influx of nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and other micronutrients) which may stimulate algal growth. PRESERVE WATERWAYS Ecolab ® has invested over 5 years of research and development leading to a patent protected chelant technology that allows replacement of phosphorus while delivering continued superior results. 99% LESS Phosphorus Solid Power ® XL is 99.7% Phosphate & Phosphorus Free Est. over all locations: Annual Phosphorus Savings XX TONS Update “XX”s with data from Excel Calculator

Ecolab Confidential 9 Superior Results Non-Ecolab low phosphorus machine detergent Solid Power ® XL 99.7% Phosphorus free machine detergent Results After 100 Washes Solid Power XL uses advanced chelants to tie up hard water minerals in addition to etch preventing ingredients to keep your glassware looking sparkling clean. Current performance

Ecolab Confidential 10 Testing Process  Goals for Solid Power ® XL: Performance: Soil removal equal to Solid Power Plus Consumption: Average of 50% more racks per capsule Lab Testing: Achieve goals under controlled conditions Lab Testing: Achieve goals under controlled conditions Field Testing: Measure to goals under customer conditions Field Testing: Measure to goals under customer conditions Market Testing: Confirm value with sales to customers Market Testing: Confirm value with sales to customers

Ecolab Confidential 11 Solid Power ® XL Lab Testing Summary  Months spent running proprietary tests for: Performance in hard water Soil removal capability - protein specific Prevention of soil redeposition Stain removal capability  Cleaning performance equivalent to Solid Power Plus under all conditions  50% more racks per capsule under all dispensing conditions tested

Ecolab Confidential 12 Solid Power ® XL Field & Market Tests  Field Testing: Standard tests conducted in customer locations to confirm Lab results Statistically validated equivalent performance to Solid Power Plus Confirmed increased racks per capsule target All customer feedback was positive  Market Test: Sold in select markets for further evaluation 3 different geographies bought over 1.6 tons of Solid Power XL Surveys confirmed customer satisfaction with performance and consumption Performance and consumption goals were statistically validated: i.e., a significant number of repeated observations of the goal characteristics were made

Ecolab Confidential 14 Appendix Plastic and Phosphorus Savings Steps taken to calculate Plastic and Phosphorus Savings  Referenced actual Solid Power ® and Solid Power Plus volumes for 12 months through August 2010 for all locations  Calculated the total actual plastic and phosphorus consumption, what they would have generated in Solid Power XL plastic and phosphorus consumption, and took the difference between the 2  Carbon footprint impact for transportation was not factored into the total due to the large number of variables, including customer proximity to Ecolab production facilities and distribution.  Plastic savings can be converted into a carbon footprint reduction estimate using available conversion tools. 1 pound of empty 20 fl. oz plastic bottles = 1.14 pounds of CO 2 per pound of 20 fl. oz plastic bottles. Our conversion formula came from: plastic-bottle-produces-1-pound-carbon-dioxide
